Could be! But I want her to get some high profile parts, too, so a larger audience can see how great she is.

I believe Mistresses is either February or March and from what I have read she is playing a lesbian who ends up dumping her bride to be to be with one of the main actresses on the show after they have an on going fling-could be good? I believe that doing enough quirky, goofy, and funnier stuff she could easily get a huge audience to notice her. I can't even count how many times little indie movies end up making it huge....Juno, Napoleon Dynamite, Little Miss Sunshine, Slumdog Millionaire just to name a few. I have always felt if she did more stuff like Wristcutters that eventually one of those little indies would get the recognition it deserved and therefore catapult her career. I think the problem is she chooses stuff that is so dark and gloomy and it doesn't get noticed and nobody wants to see that all the time-especially if its an independant film and its already having trouble being marketed. The indies that get noticed are all very beautiful and uplifting films! Wristcutters was almost there it just didn't get a wide enough release! I believe had it been in at least 230 theaters it would have gotten alot of attention. I hope Shannyn is doing what she wants but I don't believe she is all the time I believe she is trying to support herself and her children and wants the bigger checks but wants to do movies she wants to do to get them. I wish for the more high profile roles as well but only if they are respectful to her and to be honest alot of those haven't been respectful to her or any woman for that matter. I guess we will just have to continue to hope for the best-lol-sorry for going on and on and on....I haven't gotten in a discussion on here in awhile

Hey, look at all this conversation! I've visited this forum a few times before I got approved to post and it was sorta kinda dead. It's nice to see us fans interacting and talking her up. It sends good vibes her way, I think Even if we disagree on her movie roles and whatnot, it's still cool to just shoot the breeze about a talented actress whom we all really appreciate. On another note...at the risk of self-promotion, which I really really hope is okay here...I'm a novelist and have been working on an adventure trilogy for about 8 yrs (it takes a while, yeah), and when I had to come up with one of my main female protagonists, I instantly pictured Shannyn (if it were a movie). I based the character completely on her (not her personally, just on some of her acting roles), and if I ever won the lottery and had 20 million dollars to make it into a movie, I'd demand they ask her to do the part lol! I'm totally convinced she'd be perfect for it and do an amazing job, but as it goes now, it's just a book. Oh well. If anyone's interested in where to get it, you can message me. I won't use the forum for that kind of thing. I just know she's great at what she does, so much that I gave her virtual a part in my novel lol.

Hey Cyrus I couldn't agree more with shooting the breeze about a talented actress! You are right its good to see some discussion on the boards. Yes Mistresses was a show in the UK a little while back and the character Alex(which Shannyn is playing) was a lesbian on that show in the UK-I don't know if the producers are going to have the same tone or follow alot of the same plot lines as the show in the UK followed but Alex was a lesbian who fell for one of the main characters on the show. Shannyn is playing Alex as a guest starring role so I am assuming they are going to go somewhat in that range? I would think they would because its kind of a juicey plot line and I would think some spiciness would really help ratings on a show like this? Just speculation right now but we will just have to see.

Yeah its really nice to see it so lively here and to talk to other fans! I totally agree she'd be great in a Little Miss Sunshine type of film. I really really don't understand why she's not in more high profile stuff. I find it a bit strange. She's beautiful and talented and much more interesting than a lot of the current hollywood actresses. She must have had oppertunities? I thought she'd be a directors dream, which is why I thought it could have been her decision to distance herself from those types of roles. But yeah, from a few interviews (like the youtube vogue one) she says she's really fighting for it. Very confusing!

Cheflounder....oh. ::stops dancing:: Well, this being the US I'd be willing to bet they'll curb the lesbian theme for her character, especially for prime time TV. Middle America might have a conniption if it's too open minded, and Hollywood likes to pander to them. I thought it was a sure thing. Oh well. They'll probably make that her backstory but then have her actually end up with a guy. Americans would be much more 'comfortable' with that. Boring! lol But it kinda supports my earlier point--if she'd been doing bigger films all this time, she'd have more clout in a situation like that, and she could maybe push for them to keep it true to the UK version (if they're indeed thinking of changing it)...or else refuse to do the part altogether. But as it stands now, I'm not so sure she could afford to do something like that. I don't mean money-wise, but just in not having the status to walk away from a role in ANYTHING right now. I hope they leave it as is. The controversy would really help her, I think, and it would show the scope of characters she can play (and she'd double her fan base by attracting about a million more folks from the Gay community=a larger audience=bigger roles=more visibility=more money!) I saw something on Twitter last week that kinda bugged me; someone tweeted, "Anyone know what ever happened to Shannyn Sossamon? The chick from A Knights Tale. Remember her?" I was thinking wow...she's been working all this time, what do you mean 'what ever happened'? She really needs to get herself a one-way ticket out of the Land Of Obscurity.

And Kat, I agree about her "fighting for it", as she said in that interview. I know she also said in another interview (I forget where, but it was a magazine interview...I think) that she admits her friends and family have been wanting to strangle her for some of the roles/movies she's chosen over the years. I'm thinking now it was a live interview b/c I remember her kind of laughing a little about that ( ). Jeez, I wish I could remember where that was! But in any event, she knows...and the ppl around her know...that she's made some poor choices. She admitted that she had no idea what she was thinking in doing Undiscovered, for instance. But I remember her just sort of shrugging it off like oh well, what's done is done now. Anyone know what interview I'm talking about??? Has anyone else seen/read that??

Yes, I agree. Her role in Undiscovered was fluff. It did not allow her to display her talent.

I bet it will get a limited release. It seems big enough. I wonder about The Day and The End of Love, tho. Again, maybe limited releases? You gotta understand, they're competing with huge-budget movies with well-known actors. I saw Safe House last night, and I thought Shannyn could have (and should have) easily played the role of "Matt's" g/f. She needs those kind of parts right now, get back in with the big names, prove herself again, then nail a leading role in something great. I saw something on some jerkoff's blog site the other day that really pissed me off, and I tried to sign up to comment and tell him off but it was too complicated and they wanted a credit card for some reason. But he said, "Shannyn Sossamon would make a HOTT porn star, since her acting career went absolutely nowhere." Jackass. I hate seeing that stuff when I'm just trying to find some updated news on her. I'm a very protective and defensive fan!! lol!

I can't recall that interview either. I believe The end of love is getting limited theatrical release and a Video On Demand release at the same time in the fall. I would think Stealing Time would get a release similar to Road to nowhere? The movie will probably be in alot of art house cinemas-very limited? Not real sure. I agree on your comments Cyrus about that pissing you off. I used to let d-bags like that bug me when it came to actors or actresses I admired but I don't anymore-don't get me wrong its irritating but the one thing I do know is Shannyn Sossamon seems very happy in her life-two children-friends, family, and the beginning of what could be an awesome career in a field she enjoys that is more then I can say for alot of those folks out there. Whether she is in stuff some of us don't like or she is trying for roles some of us want her to get in-she is trying to be successful at something she enjoys and I do honestly believe that one day she will get to that success that we all want her to have-in the mean time I guess we all just have to remain patient and hope that one day soon a smart and very successful director recognizes that talent and beauty we all see.

Or maybe if The Day does well, the other films will get better distribution and promotion because of it!
